Zynga, Yahoo sign gaming deal

Zynga is teaming up with Yahoo to integrate its games across Yahoo's Web properties, in a move which will extend Zynga's reach to Yahoo's of 600 million users, says Eye.

The partnership comes just days after Zynga announced a five-year deal with Facebook, which is by far the largest platform for Zynga games.

The Yahoo deal is speculated to be an attempt by Zynga to ensure it does not remain dependent on Facebook.

EA to open Galway centre

US-based computer gaming company Electronic Arts (EA) is set to create 200 jobs when it breaks into the Irish market next year, states The Belfast Telegraph.

EA will open a European customer service and operations centre for its Bioware studio in Galway.

Dr Ray Muzyka, senior vice-president, EA and group GM, Bioware, says: “The new Irish location for Bioware will help us get closer to our fans in Europe. Galway gives us the right mix of solid technology infrastructure and international recruitment opportunities as we continue bringing the highest quality gaming experiences to market."

Google game a time waster

users have wasted almost five million working hours playing Pac-Man since the game was put on Google's home page, writes The Mirror.

The Web version of the classic video game was put on the site's home page to celebrate 30 years since its unveiling in Japan.

And the study claimed workers hooked on the game could have cost bosses around £83 million in lost productivity.
