Instagram has made its first foray into the world of filmmaking, launching its very own 28-part thriller series.

'Shield 5' will be broadcasted daily via 15-second clips posted to its dedicated Instagram page throughout February.

eBay partially 'fixes' bug

eBay says it has partially fixed a vulnerability on its online auction site that could have allowed hackers to trick users into downloading malware.

In December, a security company, Check Point, told eBay it had found a flaw in its active content, which allows store owners to offer users pop-ups and other content.

SwiftKey makers become millionaires

Microsoft has agreed to buy UK start-up SwiftKey, the application company best known for its free software that replaces the default keyboard on Apple and Android phones and tablets.

The Financial Times reports the deal was agreed for about $US250 million ($348.50 million), citing people familiar with the matter.

GPS error disrupts

Several companies were hit by hours of system warnings after 15 GPS satellites broadcast the wrong time, according to time-monitoring company Chronos.

The company observed problems last week, after noticing some GPS time signals were 13 microseconds out.

MIT wins Hyperloop design

A team of MIT engineers has revealed its prize-winning design for Elon Musk's revolutionary transportation system Hyperloop. The team had won first place in a design pod competition held by SpaceX on 30 January.

The MIT team beat more than 100 other student design teams from around the world to win the award for best overall design.
