Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers add deep learning support for NVIDIA Volta GPUs

Munich, 11 Oct 2017

Fujitsu today announces the addition of NVIDIA Volta Graphical Processing Units (GPUs) to accelerate advances in artificial intelligence and support deep learning processing on its latest PRIMERGY x86 servers. Available to customers in Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa beginning December 2017, select PRIMERGY models are certified for the new-generation of NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPU accelerators.

AI and deep learning computing involves large amounts of raw data and highly demanding compute environments. Fujitsu is rising to this challenge by introducing native deep learning processing capabilities to select Fujitsu PRIMERGY CX and RX server models. To achieve the highest possible levels of system performance, Fujitsu is introducing native support for NVIDIA GPUs via direct connection to the mainboard. Connected either via plug-in PCIe cards or the NVIDIA NVLink high-speed interconnect, Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers provide access to more than 100 Teraflops per second (TFLOPS) of deep learning performance.

The first models to offer native support for NVIDIA Volta GPUs are the Fujitsu Server PRIMERGY CX2570 M4, as one component of the modular CX400 M4 scale-out ecosystem, and the Fujitsu Server PRIMERGY RX2540 M4. The PRIMERGY CX400 M4 chassis combines the density and efficiency of blade-like servers with the simplicity and cost efficiency of rack-based systems, presenting a versatile and future-oriented platform for deploying integrated systems and software-defined technologies. The PRIMERGY RX2540 M4 is a 2U dual-socket rack server ideal for running enterprise applications, collaboration and messaging workloads, as well as traditional databases, which sets high standards for sability, scalability and cost-efficiency.

The CX2570 M4 can be equipped with up to 4x Tesla V100 for NVLink, the RX2540 M4 with 2x Tesla V100 for PCle accelerators, offering highest versatility for all kinds of workloads.
