It's a bumper issue of the National Tender Bulletin this week with high levels of activity in the new tenders, cancellations and awards sections.
The results section is particularly busy, reaching numbers normally only seen in the weeks preceding the close of government's financial year. While last week's bulletin saw 20 contracts awarded and three tenders binned; the latest edition announces the awarding of 14 tenders and the cancellation of 13 others.
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa is a dominant contributor to the cancellations section setting aside four outstanding tenders. On the operational side, the regulator has withdrawn requests for an enterprise project management system and a risk and compliance management system. The marketplace will be disappointed to note that ICASA has also nixed tenders for quality of service testing and benchmarking in six provinces; as well as development of implementation plans for the radio frequency migration plan and the implementation of the international mobile telecommunication roadmap.
The issue offers a slew of opportunities for the ICT industry led by services and software requests in the double digits and hardware interest following with nine requests.
