Netgear apps enhance benefits of hardware

Netgear apps such as Insight, Nighthawk, Armor and Circle with Disney provide customers with hardware that simplifies their lives and increases convenience and security.

In order to ensure that end-users are able to quickly and easily leverage the benefits of its hardware offering, Netgear has developed a variety of apps, says Tobie van Schalkwyk, product manager for Netgear switch solutions at Duxbury Networking.

The Netgear Insight solution allows users to instantly discover, configure, and continuously monitor and manage their network of select Netgear WiFi access points, switches and storage devices. “Insight is an industry first, offering plug-and-play set-up and management of your small business network from an easy-to-use mobile app or a cloud portal,” says Van Schalkwyk.

Netgear Insight offers unified wired/wireless network management via remote access and multi-device configuration. The app allows instant discovery of network devices (for select devices and all Insight managed devices), as well as cloud network monitoring and management. No additional cloud controller, appliance, network manager or PC/server is necessary.

“Device configuration is fast and easy, with one-touch installation providing substantial time savings and offering complete peace of mind. The system allows users to check WiFi activity; receive downtime notifications, and therefore act rapidly; and to reboot devices and upgrade firmware,” says Van Schalkwyk.

The Netgear Nighthawk app (formerly Up app) makes it easy to set up routers and derive more benefits from a user’s WiFi. “The app allows easy installation of routers in just a few steps: connect your mobile device to the router network, and the app will walk you through the rest. Once set up, you can use the intuitive dashboard to pause Internet on your connected devices, run a quick Internet speed test and much more,” Van Schalkwyk points out.

The Nighthawk app has a number of attractive features, including:

  • One simple management dashboard
  • View the status of your network, notifications and all the features your router offers
  • Internet speed test
  • Check the broadband speeds from your service provider
  • Smart parental controls
  • Easily manage content and time online with Circle with Disney.

“The Nighthawk app lets you easily monitor and control your home WiFi from anywhere. You can even set up Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands for your network using the new remote management feature,” says Van Schalkwyk.

Circle (with Disney) is the easiest way to manage screen time on all of a family’s WiFi and mobile devices. Circle’s parental control device and app lets parents set limits and filter content across every device, all from one app.

“Circle with Disney is a smart way for families to manage content and time online, on any connected device. You can set individual filter levels for each family member that matches their age and interests. Parents can filter online content and limit time online as well as set an Internet bedtime for every connected device in the home. Now it’s easy to pause the Internet and check what your kids are up to online. This is one of the most advanced parental control features available on any router,” Van Schalkwyk explains.

Netgear Armor is advanced cyber threat protection for the user’s home and all their devices. “You can take this extra level of cybersecurity with you on all your daily ventures for Windows PC, MacOS, Android, and iOS devices. Install Bitdefender Security as part of your Armor subscription for on-the-go protection,” says Van Schalkwyk.

Netgear Armor offers:

Anti-theft: Remote device tracking

Data protection: Active anti-malware filter

Anti-phishing: Block suspicious Web sites

Security scan: Prevent and remove system threats

“It’s a priority at Netgear to focus on providing customers with hardware that simplifies lives and increases convenience and security. Hand-in-glove with this goes the drive to provide the apps that complement this hardware, ensuring customers have immediate access to the functionality of their hardware. The team at Duxbury is on hand to guide customers through the process of selecting the hardware and symbiotic apps best suited to their individual needs,” says Van Schalkwyk.
