The world of access control is changing

Cape Town, 07 Jun 2016

Powell Tronics, national advanced access control distributor, is elated to introduce the Access Portal. It is an innovative new access control solution developed by the South African company Impro Technologies.

With 30 years' experience in the sector, Impro Technologies saw the need for an evolution in access control, and so Access Portal was born. The new range comprises a solution approach which incorporates both hardware and software, and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer.

Impro's goal for the hardware was to enable a quick and easy installation, while still adopting latest technologies to ensure customers receive a feature-rich product. Thus the concept of clustering was created.

Cluster controllers, along with relevant modules, are simply plugged into one another, to create a clustered solution. The simplicity of the solution enables a quick installation that is user-friendly and seamlessly scalable. The larger the installation, the more clusters that are created.

Further, each of Access Portal's cluster controllers has built-in offline capabilities to manage 100 000 transactions, as well as full redundancy, to ensure site stability.

Access the software anywhere in the world

The Access Portal software, when combined with Portal hardware, becomes one of the most powerful solutions available in the market.

The user-friendly software provides an unrivalled level of customisation, as well as industry-leading features such as threat level management and add-on products that seamlessly integrate into the system for visitor and contractor management, as well as mobile handheld units for remote site management.

A key innovation of Access Portal is that the software seamlessly upgrades with just a licence unlock - gone are the days of deleting software and migrating databases. Users need only insert the new licence and the software automatically unlocks to the next tier.

The licensing model for Access Portal was also simplified, with a single install on the server side; there are no client side licences required. Customers purchasing Access Portal Pro also benefit from no annual licence fees.

Customers can also access their Access Portal software from anywhere in the world, 24-hours a day, through any HTML5 compliant smartphone, tablet or PC.

Existing Impro IXP customers have also been considered, as the company has a system migration tool, to further simplify and ease the burden of upgrading to Access Portal. Further, the software integrates with a variety of third party products, such as CCTV and intrusion alarms, making it a powerful solution for you today and tomorrow.
