Russia and Poland invest in ICT management

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in Russia and Poland are on track to spend about US$10 billion on ICT, up some 15% over 2007, says Business Wire.

According to a study by New York-based Access Markets International (AMI) Partners, about 40% of Russia's one million SMEs are currently equipped with PCs, and generate the highest ICT spending in the region.

Pauline Courtiau, New York-based analyst at AMI-Partners, says: "About one third of this amount is spent on computing, in areas such as desktop and notebook PCs, peripherals, servers, printers and handheld devices."

KPN delivers broadband in Belgium

KPN, an ICT service provider, plans to use its enhanced Belgian optical network to meet the increasing demand for bandwidth-sapping applications for business and residential users such as corporate VPN's, storage solutions, Internet video and other bandwidth consuming applications, reports Market Watch.

"We aim to free our customers from bandwidth constraints so that users can access the services they need - such as high-speed Internet as well as related Internet-based applications and services," said Par Nilsson, CEO of KPN Belgium.

The new 40G-ready network uses products from the Nortel Metro Ethernet Network's portfolio including Common Photonic Layer and Optical Multiservice Edge 6500.
