BP to create global management system

Oil and gas company BP has partnered with CT TyMetrix and Interwoven to create a global data flow, information management system and implement e-billing for its in-house legal department, reports Web wire press release.

The two IT companies will analyse business processes and integrate workflow, e-billing, document management, and information retrieval systems among its 750 legal staff spread over 50 locations.

"BP Legal is creating a truly global matter and information management system to improve our efficiency and help us more pro-actively to manage our legal costs. We are all looking forward to working with these firms, who share our enthusiasm for this innovative project," said Peter Bevan, group general counsel.

Lewes BPW to consider e-billing options

The Lewes Board of Public Works (BPW), Southern Delaware could possibly join the computer age if they decide to adopt an Internet billing and payment system, reports Cape Gazette.com

Property owners or those who rent property and pay utility bills would receive statements and make payments online by check or credit card. Online customers would also see tables and graphs of water, electric and wastewater usage for the year and usage for one prior year.

Board member Jim Monihan said if 5% use the system, it would still be cost effective and improve efficiency in bill handling.

Annual card expo in Africa

The Annual Card Expo 2006 to be held in Lagos in June will allow service providers from telecommunications, financial institutions, identity, access and switching solutions vendors showcase their solutions and products, reports Vanguard.com

The three day expo, organised by Intermarc Consulting, will allow the institutions to spread and create an awareness about card and e-payment technology in West Africa on an annual basis.

The conference will act as a knowledge bank on how to better manage the implementation and operational issues associated with smart cards, ATMs, mobile payment, e-commerce, e-tax, identification, switching, EMV and related businesses, Intermarc Consulting says.
