Canon`s Digital Ixus 330 - combining style and performance

At CeBIT in March 2002 Canon announced the launch of the new Digital Ixus 330, a stylish, take anywhere camera that offers the perfect balance of style and photographic control.

With its stylish stainless steel and aluminium body, it is instantly recognisable as a member of the Digital Ixus family. The Digital Ixus 330`s design continues through to the photographic heart of the camera and this is the camera of choice for users who desire the best in function and form.

"The Ixus range has demonstrated just how important style, design and size are to consumers and has created an entirely new market category. The Digital Ixus 330 achieves the perfect marriage of beauty and performance consumers want. " says Roger Machin, Product Manager for Photo/Video products at Canon South Africa.

Integral to the Digital Ixus 330 is superb image quality. With its 2.0M pixel CCD and an f2.7, 3 x optical zoom lens (35 - 105mm, 35mm equivalent) image quality is guaranteed every time.

The Ixus 330 is directly connectable to Canon`s innovative S820D and CP-100 Direct Print printers. Direct Print is the easiest way to get superb photo prints from a Canon digital camera. One need simply connect the camera to the printer, select an image and in a few moments a perfect print is made.

The Ixus 330 affords the necessary control via a new cross-key layout, to cover awkward photographic situations. With its manual mode, users can decide whether to select 3-point AiAF (Artificial Intelligence Auto Focus), or single point focussing, depending upon the subject. For optimal metering, spot or evaluative settings can be chosen and to ensure that images are perfect, irrespective of the ambient lighting conditions, ISO speeds can be manually adjusted.

Extending beyond simple still photographs, the Ixus 330 can capture movie clips for up to 30 seconds with full sound and can be played back instantly on the camera`s LCD monitor and speaker. In addition, the camera can be simply connected to a standard TV set, for sharing movies and photos.

The Digital Ixus 330 also offers a photo effects mode, to maximise creativity. Users can choose from 5 pre-set effects; vivid colour, neutral colour, sepia, low sharpening and classic black and white. This camera also incorporates Canon`s unique "intelligent orientation-sensor" which automatically detects and obtains optimum focus, exposure and white balance by sensing the camera`s orientation and upper most edge of the image. The image is then automatically rotated after shooting, ready for viewing on the LCD monitor, or for downloading to a computer.

Canon supplies drivers with the Digital Ixus 330 for Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me and Windows XP and Macintosh OS 8.6 - 9.2 and OS X v10.1. It also comes complete with a package of photo and video manipulation and printing software.

A full range of accessories is available to further increasing the range of capabilities of the Digital Ixus 330. These include a new 30-meter waterproof case, an AC Power supply kit and the new car battery charger provide power for any location.
