Lenovo N100 - More bang for your buck

Johannesburg, 28 Nov 2006

Tarsus Technologies has announced the local availability of the Lenovo N100 series of notebooks, designed expressly for the more price-conscious buyers in the small business and SOHO markets.

Loaded with top-end features, extras that ease day-to-day operation and a price that screams value for money, Tarsus says it is expecting an awesome response to the new 14.1- and 15.4-inch widescreen models.

"As a relative newcomer to the South African market, Lenovo is committed to proving that its goal of delivering high quality, full features and cost-effective platforms is non-negotiable," says Brett Walter, Lenovo product manager at Tarsus.

"With a phenomenal response to the brand, a loyal following and good market penetration into the SME sector already, by all accounts the company is making good on that goal," he adds.

Walter says no feature has been left out of the N100.

"From dual-core processors, through to 512MB of RAM, 80GB of hard disk storage, a multi-burning optical drive (DVD/RW and CD/RW), dedicated 128MB graphics controller and full complement of connectivity options including a modem, Bluetooth, Ethernet and WiFi card, the N100 is literally 'packed to the gills' with functionality.

"As if that wasn't enough, it also features a fingerprint reader for enhanced security, four-in-one multimedia card reader for increased compatibility with digital cameras and other digital devices; and a built-in Webcam which can be used in conjunction with any number of video-conferencing and VOIP applications," Walter says.

Lastly, Walter says all of this awesome functionality is wrapped together with the bundled 'Lenovo Care' tools, which simplify the task of owning and operating a PC.

"The tools automate many routine security and maintenance tasks. Since this alleviates the need for a dedicated IT help-desk to a great degree, 'Lenovo Care' is a set of extras that SMBs and SOHO companies will find particularly useful.

"So useful in fact that many of the 'Lenovo Care' features are worthy of a spotlight mention," Walter says.

These include a one-button system recovery feature to help users diagnose, get help, and recover systems from catastrophic software failures caused by today's viruses and malware; automatic updates that download and install critical updates on a user-configured schedule to help keep the system operating at peak performance; and easy connectivity for simple wired or wireless set up for home office, office and leisure connections.

"The N100 is a strong contender in the most value-for-money notebook market today. Starting from R8 999 excluding VAT to the end-user, we're sure these new notebooks are literally going to sell themselves," he concludes.
