The new portfolio of printers creates the opportunity for HP to deliver compelling solutions to organisations, says HP's David Ryan.

HP has introduced a portfolio of business printers and managed print services in an effort to reinvent its printing business.

The new portfolio, showcased at HP Printing Reinvented in Lisbon this week, is aimed at addressing the concerns of businesses in meeting their print needs, said HP.

The company introduced 15 PageWide, OfficeJet Pro and LaserJet printers, which HP said provide high speed, greater energy-efficiency and security.

The PageWeb printers leverage HP technology for large format printers and Web presses to deliver desktop printers.

HP says the secure managed print services offering will help organisations better secure their print environment.

Today is all about reinventing HP and its print business, said David Ryan, general manager, print business group Europe, Middle East and Africa. In a constantly changing connected world, HP will keep reinventing to help businesses create what matters to them, he added.

It is not just about technology, but linking it to the evolving needs of businesses, explained Ryan.

"We're reinventing printing for every business - large or small," said Enrique Lores, president, imaging and printing at HP.

"Traditionally, vendors have spoken about 'good, better, best' where most customers have to compromise, but today we are promising 'best, best, best', allowing our customers to determine the right print solution for their business, not their budget."

The marketplace is in a state of change; companies no longer just need printers but solutions that fit into their business workflows and the changing workplace, said Ryan.

"We are approaching this challenge with a heart and energy of a start-up, combined with brain muscle and determination of a Fortune 100 company. This is our biggest launch in 10 years."

The new portfolio of printers creates the opportunity for HP to deliver compelling solutions to organisations, he added.

Aurelio Maruggi, general manager, office and versatility solutions at HP, said concern over security has never been greater.

There is a need for organisations to safeguard their printers with sophisticated protection just like on personal computers, he added.

As a result, HP is rolling out comprehensive print security services that cover software and hardware to address organisations' concerns, said Maruggi.

Securing a print fleet is more than a one-time activity, he said. Threats are constantly evolving and staying ahead requires constant vigilance.

This is where managed print services play a vital role - specifically maintaining the printer fleet with the latest preventive measures, he said.

Managed services help customers meet the ever-changing compliance requirements, and provide IT security experts with an effective strategy to help organisations comprehensively secure printers, noted Maruggi.

"We will continue to innovate in security automation and enable partners to deliver the comprehensive printing security organisations need."

"Our vision is to create technology that makes life better for everyone, everywhere. To engineer experiences that amaze," said Ryan.
