Tender Watch: Presidential spending

The controversy surrounding state expenditure on security upgrades to president Jacob Zuma's Nkandla homestead shows no sign of abating. Meanwhile, the Presidency is shopping for a new video conference system for the Union Buildings, as well as upgrades to its national communications network. The network upgrade is, however, limited to its operations in Pretoria and Cape Town.

As for the rest of the public sector, this week's National Tender Bulletin features a number of new and rare advertisers. Unfortunately, it also reveals a notable slowdown in tender awards, and cancellations. Nevertheless, the State IT Agency ensures the bulletin retains its bulk, again dominating the issue with its assortment of new requirements.
