Children's Hospital Boston has implemented a radio frequency identification (RFID) enabled inventory management system to store, track, and manage the utilisation of high cost devices and supplies used within the surgical department, according to PR-Inside.

The cabinet-based system called iRISupply, uses an RFID tracking architecture to automate charge capture, inventory management, device expiration management, and other key operational processes.

The system was installed at the hospital to store and manage items such as neurological devices, tissue implants, and other items used within their surgical specialty procedures.

Avnet vendor ecosystem released

Avnet Technology Solutions, a distributor focused on enterprise computer products and embedded subsystems, has released an independent software vendor ecosystem designed specifically for the healthcare technology market, reports FOXBusiness.

Through the ecosystem, Avnet will enable partners will be able to provide complete healthcare solutions, including leading healthcare industry software, hardware, and services.

ProMedica selects McKesson

ProMedica Health System has signed a contract with McKesson, a healthcare services, automation and healthcare IT company for an array of clinical solutions, pharmacy automation and medication distribution services, says Web Services Journal.

The systems will enhance patient safety and help improve operational efficiencies and reduce healthcare costs.

ProMedica chose McKesson due to its experience and ability to offer a complete end-to-end system for patient safety and clinical automation.
