Progress Software, a leading software provider that enables enterprises to be operationally responsive, has further enhanced its Progress Responsive Process Management (RPM) suite.
The new Progress RPM suite comprises Progress Control Tower, an easy-to-use, browser-based, interactive interface that can now be accessed on Apple iPad anywhere with Internet connectivity. With the enhanced functionality, business users have the ability to not only monitor, manage and analyse, but also to act on information stored across a variety of data sources, including IBM mainframe CICS, Tibco, Oracle, FuseSource and SAP environments, at any time and in any place.
Maureen Fleming, Programme VP, Business Process and Middleware, IDC Corporation, says: “Enterprise expectations of process improvement have jumped from thinking about a single process or single application to a need to orchestrate in real-time across internal environments and out to partner and customer systems. That means process improvement is increasingly about orchestration, real-time visibility and analysis across disparate BPM suites and packaged applications. And mobility is a key element of this strategy. Companies cannot afford delays because employees are out of touch with the decisions they need to make."
The Progress RPM suite includes significant Apple iPad support by providing real “mobile control tower” functionality that empowers business users to see and manage events and processes across their business at any time.
Dr John Bates, chief technology officer, Progress Software, says: “Businesses are contending with complex, disparate operating environments, which means it is crucial that they have instant access to every critical transaction at any place or time. The Progress Responsive Process Management suite provides the necessary visibility across all lines of business and transactions, empowering the business user to respond to what is going to potentially happen, capitalising on fleeting revenue opportunities and responding to impending risks before they can affect the customer or the bottom line."
In addition to new business intelligence support with Progress Analyst Studio on the Apple iPad, the latest release of the Progress RPM suite expands its reach by using Progress Actional interceptors to gain access into IBM CICS/MQ mainframes, Tibco Activematrix BusinessWorks, SAP ABAP, and Lombardi TeamWorks, facilitating real-time cross-platform visibility without additional mainframe costs. With this new functionality, business users can now gain deeper insight into transactional behaviour across multiple technologies and platforms to ensure business transaction integrity and performance. For example, a banking institution can now track a customer's intra-bank payments and credit card transactions regardless of whether payment is made via a mobile application, a Web-browser or an ATM.
The Progress RPM R2.0 suite comprises the Progress Actional Business Transaction Management (BTM), the Progress Apama Complex Event Processing (CEP) and the Progress Savvion Business Process Management (BPM) platforms, all of which are managed using the revolutionary Progress Control Tower interface.
Progress also offers industry-specific solution accelerators that extend the core Progress RPM suite for the capital markets, communications and supply chain industries. Solution accelerators facilitate the deployment of critical industry-specific capabilities, ensuring a faster return on investment and value creation.
The Progress Responsive Process Management suite is available in South Africa with immediate effect, through local distributor AIGS.
