IT solutions distributor, First Distribution has partnered with WiFi specialist, Ruckus Wireless, as the business' main distributor for the African region.

Through this agreement, First Distribution will be the official distributor of Ruckus Wireless' full range of WiFi technology products in SA and across neighbouring African countries.

This follows recent news that Silicon Valley-headquartered Ruckus Wireless opened its doors to the South African market to offer smart WiFi systems to broadband operators and enterprises.

Through this partnership, First Distribution will join the Ruckus Wireless channel partner programme, which is designed to assist partners in growing their businesses and in increasing profitability.

Michael Fletcher, Ruckus Wireless sales director for sub-Saharan Africa, says Africa is an important region for the company as the rising uptake of mobile devices in the continent is spurring demand for WiFi technology.

He points out that broadband connectivity and capacity is increasing in Africa due to fibre-optic cable investment. He highlights this as an opportunity for Ruckus Wireless to provide WiFi as an alternative connectivity option to African enterprises.

Ruckus Wireless indicates that it will offer its channel partners training and resources in order to provide them with the necessary sales and marketing tools to introduce smart WiFi technologies to customers.

Fletcher adds: “We hang our company hat on our smart WiFi technology - one that extends the range of WiFi signals and automatically adapts to environmental changes. This results in WiFi connectivity that, for the first time, reaches further and is inherently more reliable, which is exactly what businesses today require.”
