Tough tablet has it all!

Johannesburg, 23 Nov 2011

“The tough Durabook T7M tablet PC puts an end to the frustration of having to carry along multiple devices in the field. The T7M is built to survive and operate where other devices fail, but does not compromise on functionality,” says Stef du Plessis of Osiris Technical Systems.

The compact and rugged design of the T7M makes it an all-in-one device ready for any environment.

The rugged T7M tablet PC comes with a bar code scanner, RFID reader, 3.5G modem, GPS and camera, either as standard features or options. The T7M is designed to give fieldworkers portable, high-power computing in any type of environment. The T7M can be operated while standing, which makes it ideal for inspections and data collection in utilities, maintenance, construction, mining, industrial, manufacturing, logistics and a wide range of other tough settings.

Wireless connectivity (Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G, HSDPA, HSUPA) ensures smooth, fast data transfers. The dual hot swap long-life batteries make it possible to keep the T7M working continuously while spare batteries are charged. A digitiser option can be added to the touch-screen to allow for precision annotations, signature-capture or handwriting input. The T7M tablet PC has the option of a sunlight readable display if it is to be used outdoors.

To top it all, the T7M is dust and waterproof to IP65. It complies with Military Standard 810G for vibration, shock and drop specifications. The case is made of an ultra durable magnesium alloy with rubber and silicone bumpers, and the LCD display and disk drives are shock-mounted to further enhance the durability of this tablet PC. Software that works on a PC can be installed directly onto the T7M without the need for customisation.

Built around the popular low-power Intel 1.6GHz Atom CPU, the T7M comes standard with 2GB of RAM, 120GB HDD, one Express card slot and one SD card slot. Security features include Kensington lock and TPM 1.2 platform-ready BIOS and Windows 7 operating system.

“Clients are already testing the Durabook T7M in their environments with remarkable success. The fact that one can easily customise the T7M to your requirements makes it a cost-effective solution while still maintaining the rugged specification,” said Du Plessis. www.osiris.co.za
