T-Systems ICT Academy shines once again, receiving three CompTIA awards

Johannesburg, 21 Oct 2019

T-Systems ICT Academy is riding the crest of being awarded triple honours at the CompTIA Awards Ceremony, held on 3 October 2019 at Montecasino in Johannesburg.

At the glittering biennial event, the academy was recognised as the ‘CAPP Outstanding Leader of the Year’ and ‘CAPP Academy Partner of the Year 2019’. In addition, one of the academy’s most valued team members, Mr Thapelo Meso, Training Officer at T-Systems ICT Academy, was presented with the ‘Trainer of the Year’ award for 2019.

As the leading trade association for the global technology industry, CompTIA hosted its partner-focused event in order to pay homage to training partners and corporate customers, such as T-Systems, for their contribution to skills development in SA.

Marcus Karuppan, T-Systems ICT Academy Manager, says: “For the past 16 years, T-Systems ICT Academy’s core focus was and still is to ensure the youth of South Africa are equipped with relevant skills, thereby allowing them to be active participants in our economy. The academy first year team, headed by Thabo Lebina, works tirelessly to achieve outstanding results year-on-year. We are therefore honoured to receive this acknowledgement from such an esteemed organisation as CompTIA.”

Former learner at the T-Systems ICT Academy and now End Point Security Administration at T-Systems, Nthabiseng Nxumalo, in her alumni address, expressed gratitude for the opportunity afforded to her through the academy programme, further outlining the benefits of the CompTIA certifications that she received while a student at the academy.

Through the academy’s ICT training programme, learners have successfully completed national qualifications coupled with international certifications. As part of this journey, the academy has, since inception, strategically partnered with various industry-leading certification providers. T-Systems ICT Academy’s partnership with CompTIA through the CompTIA Academy Partner Programmes therefore, allows it to deliver training interventions recognised by businesses locally and internationally.

Grace Sikhosana, CompTIA Business Development Manager, CAPP Academy Africa, applauded the contribution made by the T-Systems ICT Academy in working towards eliminating the skills gap and the tremendous work done by the team at the academy.

“We thank CompTIA for recognising the efforts of our team including our interns, who are aspiring technical trainers. In addition, we would like to show appreciation to T-Systems South Africa for the continued support and commitment to driving change in our country,” concludes Karuppan.
