Survey: Which sectors are benefiting from cloud adoption?

Johannesburg, 18 Aug 2020

Cloud computing is driving innovation across a variety of industries, enabling businesses, regardless of size or sector, to reap the benefits of technologies such as big data analytics, the Internet of Things, machine learning and augmented reality.

According to Zubin Chagpar: head of MEA at AWS Public Sector Sales, this is particularly true in four areas - research, education, healthcare and citizen services, all of which have seen a rapid transformation over the past few months.

In terms of the healthcare sector, Chagpar says AWS has seen rapid adoption of cloud technologies in the research space, as these facilities race to find a vaccine for the COVID-19 virus.

At the same time, in the education space, he says AWS has seen schools, practically overnight, move to launch online initiatives to support the education of millions of students around the world.

“With citizen services, we have seen national and local governments stand up applications, or entire call centres, in a matter of days," says Chagpar. “We have seen digital projects that would normally take months or years, completed in weeks or days.”

To help unpack how these and other sectors in SA are benefiting from cloud technologies, ITWeb, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), is conducting a Cloud Survey.

The survey examines the challenges and opportunities that go hand-in-hand with cloud adoption, as well as the factors that determine the failure or success of a cloud implementation.

We value your opinion and encourage you to share your cloud adoption experience within your industry, and be part of the latest research into cloud in South Africa.

By taking part in this survey, you could win one of three touchscreen Wi-Fi Amazon Kindles, valued at R2 700.

The detailed results of the survey and the winner of the lucky prize draw will be published on ITWeb.
