HPE South Africa’s MD President Ntuli outlined key growth areas for the local HPE ecosystem in 2020 at the company’s annual partner awards in Johannesburg last week (30 January).
“We are looking at the importance of our partnerships in driving the growth of HPE in a number of key strategic areas,” he said.
“Our CEO (Antonio Neri) said by 2022 everything you can procure from an HPE perspective will be available as-a-service. So the first key initiative that we are driving in the South African context is the as-a-service offering through our GreenLake offering.”
HPE GreenLake is a hybrid cloud pay-per-use offering, which eliminates the problem of buying excess computing, storage or networking capacity for on-premises solutions.
The company will also be looking at growing its software business within HPE Aruba, which is its portfolio of wired switching, access points, networking applications and services, as well as its Nimble storage offering, ‘which leverages flash storage and predictive analytics to guarantee almost 100% availability’.
Data analytics is another key area for the company, said Ntuli. “We are calling it our intelligent data platform, and yes, it’s pretty new for us and for our partners.”
In March HPE will be launching its full-blown solution for container management through HPE BlueData, which is a container-based software solution that offers an as-a-service experience for AI, machine learning, and analytics in the enterprise.
Another area that HPE’s local operation is expanding this year is its hybrid cloud team. “We are quite excited about launching this into South Africa and in building capability here we will be leveraging the assets of RedPixie,” he said.
HPE purchased RedPixie, a UK cloud consultancy in 2018, which gives it the ability to expand its consulting capabilities to build and manage Microsoft Azure hybrid solutions, especially for the financial sector, Ntuli explained.
The public sector and telco arenas are also being targeted for growth this year. “And we have been making new investments into new markets: namely the financial and retail sectors; especially targeting the retail sector within the Aruba space,” he says.
“I want to thank the partners for their hard work done during 2019 but this year we are looking at much more stronger partnerships as we expand our brand,” Ntuli concluded.
