Lenovo gears up for eBox

Lenovo is getting ready to roll out eBox family entertainment centre, a project that it has been developing for two years, reports Trading Markets.

According to Lenovo, eBox is developed for digital families facing the convergence of telecommunications network, the Internet and cable TV network.

eBox will provide digital entertainment, online services and enable gamers to play TV games without consoles or remote controls. So far, 16 game companies from eight countries have expressed interest in developing games for eBox.

Meta Mirror converges physical, digital

Meta Mirror is developing technology that would use software downloaded on a tablet, smartphone or laptop, and display contextual information over a mirror, states International Business Times.

Meta Mirror, still in its concept phase, would work with RSS and XML feeds to stream real time information straight to the device through the interface.

Marcel Twohig, co-partners at electronics design firm Notion, says: "There is an emerging convergence of physical and digital infrastructure in home entertainment. We expect a digital signature to all the things we have. We're trying to explore that blurring boundary between the physical and digital.”

Olive Telecom unveils 3.5G tablet

Olive Telecom has revealed plans to release OlivePad VT 100, a multi-functional device operating on Android and supports 3.5G Hsupa, Wi-fi and Bluetooth, says The Hindu.

The 7-inch tablet PC comes with a 3MP camera and access to applications for Web browsing, multimedia, instant messaging and social networking.

Olive Telecommunication chairman Arun Khanna told reporters that the company achieved major breakthroughs in Mexico and Russia and it would soon enter the North American markets.
