Network infrastructure solutions provider Hecifed is adding a new feature called Take Away IPs (TAIP) to its solution for streamlined IP leasing, the IP Address Market.
The feature will enable customers to move leased IPs onto third party networks as well as automate the process.
Before now, leased IPs have only had the option of being assigned to Heficed’s servers. The company’s new feature will allow clients to host IPs onto external networks, providing more flexibility and autonomy to those users who either have their own infrastructure, another provider, or simply operate in a different location.
Vincentas Grinius, CEO at Heficed, says the company’s goal has always been to provide a range of functions and make the process of setting up the leased IPs as simple as possible. “With TAIP, clients will be able to perform subnet reassignment to their ASN in only 15 minutes, which, compared with the usual one to two, is a significant improvement.”
The speed will come from having the digital route origin authorisation certificate that confirms which autonomous system is given permission to announce specific prefixes, along with the letter of authorisation.
The automated procedure will become more low-touch, requiring less support to move IPs to an external network. In addition, with its implemented safeguards, it will keep the risk of error low by minimising the amount of interactions between clients and ISPs, adds Grinius.
The company recently announced that it will be detaching the IP Address Market from its current product suite, and launching it under a new platform called Internet Protocol Exchange Organization, or IPXO. TAIP will be a core part of it, with additional functions to be offered in the future.
Hecifed says its ultimate objective is to make all procedures autonomous, and is also working towards introducing a new Bring Your Own IPs (BYOIP) function, which will enable customers to bring already owned IPs onto its network architecture.
