It's a dismal week for companies looking to do business with government as the National Tender Bulletin experiences a sharp decline in its bulk. The majority of this loss is due to the marked reduction in advertised tenders across all categories and sectors. What's more, the edition's cancellations section sees prolific activity.
The ICT industry is not exempt from government's procurement pull back. What is on offer favours the software sector followed closely by services requests. However, these advertisements fail to make it past single digits. The pinch on hardware interest is even more marked leaving just two tenders for the sector to consider.
The results section offers little in the way of good news as announcements pour forth to the tune of seven cancellations. The software sector is hardest hit by this scourge with six cancellations. Similarly, software is not a popular element in the awards section with only one of the five contracts issued.
