RITO Technologies does more with Kaseya

Improved operational efficiencies allow for exponential expansion.

Johannesburg, 08 May 2012

RITO Technologies has been a provider of cost-effective and sustainable, unique ICT solutions, including managed services and device, network and systems integration for the SME market since 2007.

As client requirements began to change and IT systems support became more onerous, the company sought to improve the way in which it managed the multiple tools and systems it ran at client sites.

Tony Ferguson, owner of RITO Technologies, explains that he and the team were spending a great deal of time on the road, travelling to clients to resolve IT issues.

“Whenever we arrived at our clients' premises, they weren't very happy to see us, as it generally meant that there was a fault or issue with their IT system that needed to be resolved and that they could expect another IT-related bill. This meant that we often had to deal with frustrated customers.”

Ferguson decided that it was time to harness the power of cloud computing and find a suitable management tool that could effectively boost RITO Technologies' system and device management capabilities to improve operational efficiency at client sites.

“We wanted a single tool that offered the functionality we needed to improve the efficiency with which our technicians could manage, maintain and repair multiple disparately located systems and devices for our various clients,” he explains. “After a great deal of research and consultation, we finally came across Kaseya. They were the only provider that offered a solution that would enable us to manage multiple devices and systems through a single Web interface.”

According to Ferguson, having the ability to manage multiple systems from a single pane was his main stipulation when implementing a systems management tool.

“Kaseya offered us the perfect cloud-based solution for remote mobile device and software management. And, as the solution is hosted locally, it was the ideal way to introduce software as a service solutions to our SME customers, as they don't need to worry about international bandwidth constraints or reliability.”

Since implementing the Kaseya solution, both RITO Technologies and its customers have enjoyed significant benefits. “From our clients' perspective, they now enjoy faster response times in terms of fault resolution, as most processes are automated. Their devices are more easily integrated into their network environments; they can easily add new devices to scale on-demand; and the devices work better, as their entire network is more reliable and efficient.

“They are also benefiting from automated, regular and stable image-based backups at a fixed monthly fee. This is the ideal way to ensure comprehensive disaster recovery (DR) capabilities and data backups for small to medium-sized businesses that can't afford enterprise-grade DR solutions. This is essential to ensure business continuity, regulatory compliance and peace-of-mind for businesses of all sizes,” says Ferguson.

“All of our clients are extremely happy with the results we are achieving since we implemented the Kaseya IT management suite,” he continues. “More importantly, they are now happy to see our staff on-site, as we are no longer there just to resolve issues. Thanks to Kaseya, we now have the time to meet with clients and discuss how we can use IT to improve their business, instead of merely working to resolve issues. This proactive way of managing IT adds great value to our clients' businesses.”

In terms of benefits for RITO Technologies, its own systems are more stable since implementing Kaseya. The management capabilities and systems automation it enables has also allowed the company to expanded its business exponentially in the last 18 months, without significantly increasing resources, as technicians are able to effectively manage more.

“In fact, the solution enables such efficient systems management that we are now able to cope when a technician goes on leave, without the stress that we commonly experienced in the past when that happened.”

RITO Technologies has also been able to reduce costs by decentralising its offices and saving on its monthly office rental.

“All of our employees now work from home, as we can connect to our managed systems remotely via the Web-based Kaseya management tool. This lets us do our jobs from anywhere, so we don't have to worry about the impact of e-toll fees and rising fuel prices on our business,” explains Ferguson.

“Technology is increasingly moving into the cloud, as businesses look for ways to reduce spend on IT, yet still have access to best-of-breed infrastructure, software and services. As such, service providers need to find ways to effectively manage each client's infrastructure, network components, servers, desktops and devices remotely, comprehensively and transparently,” comments Garth Hayward, regional manager for Kaseya Africa.

“The Kaseya IT management suite has a global track record as the ideal tool for enabling service providers to deliver efficient IT services across multiple locations from the cloud. Since launching locally in 2008, a number of service providers have used Kaseya technology to scale their cloud-computing and device management capabilities in the same way RITO Technologies has.”

“As Kaseya has revolutionised its solution deployment and management capabilities, it is also in a better position to discuss how RITO Technologies can take its clients' businesses into the future, by adopting virtualisation and cloud computing technology,” continues Ferguson. “With these capabilities, we are able to future-proof clients' businesses, as we can easily scale infrastructure, add devices on demand, or deploy software to multiple sites across disparate systems and platforms.

“This not only ensures the longevity of our clients' IT systems, with reduced capital and operational expenditure requirements, but it has also positioned RITO Technologies at the forefront of the IT outsourcing trend, which will ensure that we remain effective and relevant in this rapidly changing market dynamic,” he concludes.
