Takumi, Chartered team up

Takumi Technology Corporation is collaborating with Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, one of the world's top dedicated foundries, reports CNN Money.

The companies are working together to validate Takumi's design-for-manufacturing (DFM) optimisation software, Takumi Enhance, on Chartered's 65nm process implementation of Common Platform technology.

Takumi Enhance is an automatic layout optimisation software designed to improve performance and silicon yield. The software utilises manufacturing data to analyse and detect hot spots.

3D Systems clients share applications

3D Systems Corporation has announced that leading customers will share innovative architectural, dental and jewellery applications of the company's 3D modelling technology at the 3D Systems World Conference from September 24 to 27, reports Digital CAD.

Among the speakers will be Fon Davis, of Fonco Design and Fabrication, who will present on Fonco's use of 3D Systems' InVision 3D modellers to build architectural models.

Davis initially purchased the system to create models for apartment buildings in the downtown Dubai Sports City District. He will also describe how he creates miniatures for music videos, commercials, television and movies.

Manufacturers embrace technology

In an era where China has become the state's third-largest export market, Wisconsin manufacturers are embracing IT, says WTN News.

Despite the diversification that has occurred since the recession of 1982-83, manufacturing still is considered the key to the state's economic engine.

New competitive threats have emerged in Asia, and "ahead-of-the curve" manufacturers are leveraging IT not only to help establish partnerships in places like China, but to extract more out of their lean-manufacturing strategies, optimise business processes, enable growth, and learn more about their customers.
