Siemens storage boosted by CA ARCserve

Computer Associates International (CA) and Siemens Nixdorf have announced a far-reaching agreement that makes CA`s industry-leading ARCserve storage management products a key component of Siemens Nixdorf`s broad range of business computing solutions. The agreement will help Siemens Nixdorf meet customer needs for integrated storage management in a wide range of contexts, from the company`s Intel-based server line to application-specific implementations such as SAP R/3 and Microsoft Exchange Server under Windows NT.

CA Africa MD Jeremy Smith said the agreement between Siemens Nixdorf and CA covers several areas.

"Siemens Nixdorf`s Open Enterprise Computing Line of Business will OEMARCserve to support its Data Management Strategy on its line of Intel-based Primergy servers under Windows NT and Netware. CA`s advanced technology will be used to meet the full range of Siemens Nixdorf customer storage management requirements including backup, disaster recovery, data migration/hierarchical storage management, data replication and media/device monitoring and management under Windows NT and NetWare," Smith said.

The ARCserve technology will be used to service Siemens Nixdorf customers in all market segments, from small businesses to the global enterprise entry server area. Siemens Nixdorf will also take advantage of CA`s application-specific storage management software to provide customers deploying popular business solutions such as SAP R/3 and Microsoft Exchange Server with robust data protection and management facilities.
