The G6800 will suit business and higher education institutions as models are designed for installation in auditoriums, says Epson.

Epson unveiled a new range of projectors in Johannesburg last week.

According to the brand, the projectors are the ideal digital solution for business meetings and classrooms, combining the functionality of a projector, whiteboard and flipchart into one device.

"These devices offer a digital solution that caters to a range of business needs. With one piece of equipment doing the job of the three or four that would have been required before, businesses are able to reduce investment costs on additional equipment and save valuable time in their meetings," said Kelvin Reynolds, GM of Epson SA.

The projectors turn surfaces into interactive screens and allow users to make written comments on projected images from a variety of input sources, including computers, office networks, USBs and smart devices.

The range features the EB-1400Wi, EB-G6900WU and EB-G6800.

The G6 series, which features the EB-G6900WU and EB-G6800, boasts HDBaseT for the transfer of up to five signals, including HD video, audio, power and control, over distances of up to 100m using a standard cat5/6 cable.

According to Epson, the G6 series will suit medium-sized to large corporates and higher education institutions as the models were designed for installation in auditoriums, lecture theatres and large meeting rooms. With the provided interactive pens, users can interact with computer software in the same way they would with a mouse. Once meetings have finished, notes can be saved and shared.

"Epson is one of the first adopters of this technology in the projection market. By providing a dedicated connectivity interface including video, data and power over Ethernet that uses standard network cabling, it is expected to reduce complexity, time and cost," Reynolds added.

The projectors can be connected to Epson's all-in-one business inkjet printers and users can scan documents directly to the projector. The majority of businesses' existing printer fleets can also be connected for note printing.

The EB-1400Wi features a multi-location function that allows up to four separate projection systems to be connected remotely, allowing users to share images and presentations and comment on the same image remotely.

"With the intuitive on-screen menu and user-friendly controls, users require no specific training to make the most of these devices. They can confidently make presentations using the advanced features, knowing they are in complete control," Reynolds concluded.

The projectors come packaged with two digital pens, built-in software, a wall mount, an external control pad and a built-in 10W speaker, says Epson. All projectors in the series are compatible with the Epson EB-G5 series lenses.

Prices range from R24 403 to R51 846.
