The highlights included the presentation of the annual report by Arlene-Lynn Volmink; the 2018 financial report and proposed 2019 budget by Francois le Roux; and a presentation by guest speaker Dr Claudelle von Eck.

During the president's annual report, Volmink shared the strategic targets for the chapter and the various initiatives in place to help the chapter achieve these targets. A special mention was given to the achievements to date as well as an acknowledgement of areas that can be improved on. Subsequent to the AGM, the ISACA SA chapter has also renewed its partnership and memorandum of understanding with the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA).

The chapter's treasurer shared the annual financial statement with the members and provided an explanation on the key financial movements and the assumptions used in the preparation of the 2019 budget. Prior to members voting on the proposed budget, there was an opportunity for members to ask pertinent questions and to address any uncertainty. Thereafter, members were asked to vote. Based on the majority vote, the 2019 budget was approved.

The renowned Dr Von Eck, CEO of the Institute of Internal Audit: South Africa, was the guest speaker for the evening. The presentation: "Leadership lessons I did not learn in business school" was engaging and powerful. It sparked food for thought on the role that intrinsic drivers play in both our professional and personal realms.

The meeting was concluded with closing remarks by the ISACA South Africa Chapter's Vice-President, Kenneth Palliam. The catering, venue and cocktail session encouraged networking among the members, speakers and board members.
