MasterCard unveils mobile payment platform
MasterCard has announced its person-to-person payment service for mobile phones with one issuer on board and an untold number waiting in the wings, states Digital Transactions.
The card network's Mobile MasterCard MoneySend service relies on its established MoneySend P2P platform, which processes transactions primarily in Asia and Europe.
The mobile version allows users to transfer funds on their handsets using text messaging, a mobile Web site, or a downloadable application, and works with any mobile phone.
Ringleader offers wireless location services
Ringleader Digital, a technology provider for targeted, trackable advertising campaigns, has collaborated with Useful Networks to co-develop a solution to offer wireless location services to customers, says Business Wire.
The relationship will enable Ringleader to provide geo-targeting and location-based multicarrier targeting capabilities via Useful Networks' PlaceWhere platform which reduces costs, time to market and complexity in unveiling location-aware products.
Their platform serves as a secure location clearinghouse for applications and application providers who want access to carrier-agnostic location-based services.
Samsung Jet unveiled
Samsung has unveiled a new smartphone, the Jet, which it claims offers users the "very best in speed, power, and dominant performance", reports Computerworld.
The touch-screen smartphone measures 109x54x12mm and features a 3.1in WVGA AMOLED display.
Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync ensures users can access their e-mail clients from the handset, while HSDPA offers speedy Internet access at a speed of up to 3.6Mbps.
