Cell C says its technicians have identified the problem affecting call set-up on its network.

Mobile operator Cell C says its technicians have identified the problem affecting call set-up on its network this morning, explaining traffic management between its two major data centres was affected.

"A resolution has been put in place and customers should already be seeing an improved experience; full service will be restored shortly," says the company.

This is after Cell C users this morning took to social media to complain the operator's network had fallen over, affecting the making and receiving of calls, as well as SMS services.

In response to the initial social media complaints, Cell C stated earlier: "We are currently experiencing a call set-up issue which is preventing some calls from going through when customers are dialling a number.

"Our technicians are working hard to resolve the problem. We will keep you updated on the progress. We apologise for the inconvenience."
