Siemens offers tailored solutions for machine-to-machine communication

In a move aimed at making it much easier for enterprises to obtain their own machine-to-machine (M2M) application, the Wireless Modules division of Siemens Communications is, together with partners, offering companies tailored M2M solutions.

With this new line of business, Siemens Communications is responding to a situation in the market that is characterised above all by a complex value chain that sees partner companies from many different sectors playing a part. Besides involving application developers, companies must call on the services of providers such as network operators and system integrators as well as hardware and software vendors.

With M2M One, Siemens simplifies this complex process by offering companies tailored M2M solutions from a single source. As the offer is modular in structure, companies can draw on it and coordinate it according to their individual needs, ranging from analysis of the business model through to the selection of hardware and software components and to series production.

In the implementing projects, Siemens works closely with its far-reaching international network of partners, including the Siemens Wireless Community - a network of system integrators - and also developers, mobile operators such as Orange, and application service providers like Oracle.

The Wireless Modules division of Siemens Communications opened up the M2M market in 1995 with the M1 module. With M2M One, it has now added complete turnkey ready solutions for corporate clients to its portfolio.

"Our new line of business is the logical consequence of our experience and our market leadership in the M2M sector," says Jos'e Costa e Silva, president of Wireless Modules at Siemens Communications. "Siemens combines communications and industrial know-how in a unique way that gives us an excellent basis for the success of M2M One."
