Pay-TV operator MultiChoice has appointed Jabu Mabuza, who until recently was also Telkom’s chairman, as one of its new directors.

MultiChoice announced the appointment in a SENS statement on Monday afternoon. “[The] MultiChoice board is pleased to announce the appointments of Mr Jabulane (Jabu) Albert Mabuza and Dr Fatai Adegboyega Sanusi as independent non-executive directors of the company, with effect from 5 July 2019.”

Mabuza currently serves as chairman of various companies, including Anheuser-Busch InBev/SAB Miller, Africa; the Casino Association of SA; and Eskom.

He was also recently appointed as chairman to the board of Sun International, and was previously group CEO and later deputy chairman of Tsogo Sun.

Mabuza has served on various boards of a number of companies covering different industries and has an array of organisational memberships in SA and abroad.

In 2017, an Honorary Doctor of Commerce degree was awarded to Mabuza by the University of Witwatersrand, in recognition of his entrepreneurship achievements and his contribution to the South African economy.

MultiChoice also appointed Dr Fatai Adegboyega Sanusi, a senior consultant in the UK National Health service, serving in this position for 19 years at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust. He has also accumulated years of experience in governance and risk management at a senior management board level.

He is active in education and training and has served as training director for several years.

Sanusi graduated from the University of Lagos in 1986.

The broadcaster says its board welcomes Mabuza and Sanusi, and looks forward to their contribution.

The MultiChoice board is chaired by Imtiaz Patel and has 11 other directors.
