Bytes People Solutions has improved its Empowerdex BEE rating from Level 3 (AA) to Level 2 (AAA) after being evaluated by Empowerdex according to the BB-BEE Codes of Good Practice.
As a result of this improvement in the rating, as well as being a value-added supplier, Bytes People Solutions' customers will be entitled to claim a total of 156% of their procurement spend as BEE spend.
According to Dr Madelise Grobler, Managing Director of Bytes People Solutions, the lessons learnt from achieving the improved rating have also enabled Bytes People Solutions to guide and advise its clients in terms of the skills development aspect of the BBBEE scorecard. Bytes People Solutions achieved the maximum points for skills development, enterprise development and socio-economic development.
From a skills development perspective, Bytes People Solutions has been involved in learnership programmes, registered with the ISETT SETA, since its inception in 2003.
The company commenced with its first disabled learnership in 2005 and has subsequently up-skilled 1 200 learners (of which 240 have been disabled learners). In addition to the workplace experience obtained with various companies in the Bytes Technology Group, a number of learners have been permanently employed by the group.
As a result of the success of the various learnership programmes, Bytes People Solutions has established a Skills Development business unit which focuses solely on delivering skills programmes for its clients. The business unit does not only focus on the training aspect of the skills programme but also provides value-add services such as recruitment, selection and mentoring of learners which are vital for the success of skills development programmes.
At the recent Altron Annual Awards Ceremony, Bytes People Solutions received the Altron Chief Executive's Award for Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment and Transformation, BEST BBBEE INITIATIVE FOR 2009, in recognition of its initiatives related to disabled learnership programmes.
