Finance Minister Tito Mboweni may be asking Parliament for extra time to prepare for the delivery of the country's medium-term budget, but the rest of government is wasting no time to sign contracts for outstanding tenders.
This week's National Tender Bulletin sees 20 contracts awarded, while three tenders have been binned. These notices come from all levels of government. It should be noted that the majority of these awards are for relatively small sums ranging between the R6 million and R85 000 mark. Bucking the trend, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture reveals a more considerable outlay allocating a R42.5 million contract for the decommissioning and replacement, operation and maintenance of CCTV and access control; and the Government Pensions Administration Agency is renewing its self-service solution licenses with professional services for R15.5 million.
As for new opportunities, the latest edition has much to offer all sectors of the IT industry as demand for software, hardware and services all attract requests in the double digits. The telecommunications sector also gets some attention with five opportunities available to pursue.
