Expect to spend a lot of time in your car this month it you hope to snare a government contract. Although compulsory briefings are not unheard of, this week's National Tender Bulletin contains an unusually high percentage of the stipulation. Whether this is a sign of things to come, or simply a case of post-holiday, renewed vigour for the new year, remains to be seen.
Despite the numerous attendance demands, the issue is unlikely to cause a stir in the ICT industry. There is certainly nothing on offer that would be considered a big ticket item due to price tag or the scale and complexity of the project.
Software interest regains its leadership position this week, however hardware demand remains strong. The services sector, on the other hand, will be pleased to note that demand is recovering from the single tender advertised last week. Nevertheless, it has much catching up to do before returning to normal levels.
