Gaming expo rAges ahead

The three-day annual rAge gaming expo came to an end in Johannesburg on Sunday, and the organiser has branded the event a huge success.

"We saw a significant growth in the number of people attending this year," says Michael James, organiser of rAge and editor of NAG magazine.

"The retailers were also extremely happy as they experienced an increase in their targets," he adds.

The sold-out 700 LAN seats, where gamers brought their own PCs and played games against each other, also went off without a hitch, "as we experienced no power outages," says James.

Based on the interest generated this year, plans are already in place for a bigger and better event next year, he says.

The 'Painkiller` one-on-one shootout against the world`s number one gamer, Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendell, yielded little for South African gamers.

"Although Fatal1ty totally annihilated the South African challengers, watching his competitiveness has renewed interest among South African gamers."
