For the second year running, ITWeb Security Summit 2019 will be held in Cape Town as well as Johannesburg. The event will happen over two days, with the conference and displays on 23 May, and half-day workshops on 24 May. Both days will be held at the Southern Sun in Cape Town.

"In a world that is increasingly connected and digital, cyber security threats are constantly evolving, as well as growing in number and sophistication," says Angela Mace, CRM and Events director of ITWeb. "It doesn't help that adversaries are more determined than ever, which means that security professionals need to be up to speed with the latest technologies, techniques and skills for predicting and mitigating cyber attacks, which could be catastrophic for any business."

With this in mind, the Cape Town event aims to unpack the methods and tools in use by today's threat actors, as well as the latest legal and compliance demands.

"We had an overwhelming response from Cape Town delegates last year. It is clear that Security Summit has outgrown Johannesburg alone, and Cape Town needs its own event, to bring together top international and local industry experts, analysts and end-users, to discuss the latest threats facing CISOs, CIOs, security specialists and risk officers in the region," adds Mace.

She says there will be several top experts who will demystify emerging cyber security strategies in AI, blockchain, IOT, DevSecOps and many more, to help delegates increase their organisations' cyber resiliency.

The first keynote address: 'Examining the impact of people, processes, technology and regulation in combating cyber attacks: how much progress have we made?' will be delivered by renowned security expert, Charl van der Walt, chief strategy officer, SecureData SensePost (UK).

Next in the line-up, Pukhraj Singh, a top security operations and threat intelligence practitioner from India, will discuss: 'Politics and power in cyber security: how cyber operations are intimately linked with geo-strategy'.

Following Singh's presentation, well-known security expert and speaker Pete Herzog, who is MD of The Institute for Security and Open Methodologies (ISECOM) in the US, will talk about: 'Business and cyber security: the co-dependency'.

The final keynote of the day: 'From overwhelmed to empowered', will be delivered by Ljupcho Joshevski, head of Cybersecurity Systems Engineering at Cisco Systems.

According to Mace, there is something for everyone. "Security Summit Cape Town will give delegates all the information they need to take their information and cyber security strategies to the next level. The sessions will cater for users across the board, from those embarking on their security journeys to veterans of the industry. Technical users, as well as those more focused on business and strategy, will find sessions designed for them."

Security Summit will feature over 60 speakers, panellists and workshop leaders who possess both real-world experience and theoretical knowledge. It will provide up-to-date information on the latest information and cyber security trends and developments, and will give many opportunities for attendees to network with their peers.

"ITWeb Security Summit will offer practical advice that can be used from day one, and will feature some excellent product and solution demonstrations, to showcase some of the hottest tools and technologies available today," she concludes.
