Leading customer interaction and communications expert Inter-Active Technologies is proud to announce that 44 learners have completed the company's distinguished Internal Learnership Programme.

This has been considered as a significant milestone for Inter-Active Technologies in terms of skills development within a business process outsourcing sphere. Inter-Active Technologies operations director Bevin Sandras says: "With 90% of the learners being offered employment at Inter-Active Technologies, this programme bears testimony to the dedication and great effort implored by all of those involved in this rewarding success path."

Inter-Active Technologies took the decision last year to explore the opportunity to nurture young people within the call centre industry. The success of this programme has allowed the company to continue this forward movement and place focus on a Youth Development Programme in 2014.

Sandras notes that this programme is catered to guide rising young talents to create and master a career within the call centre environment. "We have taken a new perspective on the Learnership Programme, which provides greater assistance to the learner in fulfilling new opportunities."

In addition, a devoted Inter-Active Technologies PeopleDevelopment Team will be placing increased focus on nurturing individuals within the call centre environment. According to Sandras, this involves a collective responsibility between the learners and the organisation.

"Learning and development will be a valuable journey, and not merely a leap to the finish line. By focusing on goals that are mutually significant to employees and the organisation, both short- and long-term career objectives can be met," he continues.

Inter-Active Technologies' mission regarding youth programmes is to drive people development, in conjunction with its presently popular learnerships. "We look forward to continuing our incredible relationship with the learners for years to come," Sandras continues.

In addition to developing young talent, Inter-Active Technologies has established a unique work readiness programme for the Inter-Active Technologies pro cycling team. The purpose of this initiative is to enable the company's cycling team to make a smooth transition to the world of work after their cycling career.

This programme also offers a solution to the cycle of unemployment that the youth of southern Africa currently find themselves in - unable to find a job, or the job that they want, because they don't have the necessary level of skill or experience that the labour market demands.

The programme covers essential skills that are required in the workplace as well as the skills required to become employed. It makes use of a combination of learning modules that are linked to unit standards and other outcomes based programmes registered with the South African Qualifications Authority and Accredited with the Services SETA.

Not only is the pro cycling team provided with extensive skills development, but each member is also assigned a trained mentor to assist and guide them through the learning process. Mentors are trained to tailor their assistance and guidance that they give to the learners, according to the learner's personal profile determined at the start of the programme using psychometric assessments.

Learning at Inter-Active Technologies has evolved, with the gradual evolution of various people development milestones. "Managing and retaining our talent has become one of the key focus areas," Sandras concludes.
