Fujitsu today announced that PRIMERGY servers support the new Windows Server 2008 R2. The new features in Windows Server 2008 R2 perfectly support the strength of PRIMERGY servers and Fujitsu's Dynamic Infrastructures portfolio.
Windows Server 2008 R2 expands existing technology and adds new features that increase the reliability and flexibility of customers' infrastructure.
When combined with the PRIMERGY server, customers receive a valuable and efficient infrastructure that fits perfectly with virtualisation solutions like Live Migration and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
The new DirectAccess function allows customers to access their corporate network wherever they are without using any special VPN hardware or software. In addition, BranchCache helps customers to improve and optimise network performance by caching corporate data downloads. This supports Fujitsu's Dynamic Infrastructures architecture approach.
Windows Server 2008 R2 in combination with PRIMERGY also helps customers save power and operating costs. Microsoft optimises the power management function and improves energy consumption. PRIMERGY servers are developed and designed for the highest operational efficiency supported by our PRIMERGY ServerView Suite and Power Management. This enables customers to take cost out (new TCO) of their business processes and benefit from exceptional values for their critical business services.
In addition, Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation for PRIMERGY is now available, giving customers new options for a powerful and affordable server platform. Small to medium sized businesses will find that this server platform offers a solid foundation on which to run popular business applications and to share devices at a modest budget.
Richard Sutherland, Portfolio Manager, Dynamic Infrastructures at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says: “Many IT organisations want to base their platform strategy on industry standards without sacrificing reliability and flexibility. Fujitsu's x86 PRIMERGY servers are designed for virtualisation and efficient IT operations. The new features of Windows Server 2008 R2 support these design objectives exceptionally well and deliver a powerful and efficient industry standard architecture in combination with PRIMERGY, one that reduces costs.”
