Crystal Web launches mobile data less than R1/GB

Cape Town, 06 Feb 2017

Crystal Web has entered the mobile data space and has done so aggressively. The company launched mobile data over Vodacom's last mile network today with a customer's first month at just R1 for any bundle size up to 3GB.

After one month, standard rates apply, but even these rates are up to 33% cheaper than standard mobile data rates and Crystal Web promises that it has effectively killed off the Out-Of-Bundle shark with their product. Crystal Web CEO, Shaun Kaplan, said: "What we uncovered is that with the latest mobile data speeds, a customer can end up with a R20 000 bill for accidental out of bundle data transfers in under 30 minutes. We've killed that option in our product suite. Customers choose, instead, to upgrade once they've run out of data."

Existing Vodacom contract customers can switch to Crystal Mobile data by changing their APN details. Prepaid and non-Vodacom customers will receive a pre-provisioned SIM card from Crystal Web.

The R1 promotion works out to just 33c/GB which is roughly 99% cheaper than current products available on Vodacom's network. Crystal Web's standard rates are as follows:

The R1 special is not limited to mobile data. Crystal Web has launched February madness month, offering any DSL data for just R1 for the first month. According to Kaplan, the specials celebrate the release of the new Crystal Web Web site and are a sign of things to come. "We'll be releasing new products, services and pricing this year, and there are some very big surprises waiting in the wind for Crystal Web customers. We can't wait to release them."

Crystal Web is a highly regarded Internet service provider and was recently voted as the top rated network by MyBroadband members.
