Dr Neville Comins has been involved with The Innovation Hub since its inception in December 1999, first as project manager and later as acting CEO. His appointment as CEO of The Innovation Hub Management Company was confirmed in May 2001. Comins is a member of the International Board of the International Association of Science Parks. He is a graduate of the University of Natal (BSc [Hons]) and Cambridge University (PhD). Following periods at the National Research Council of Canada and the Department of Metallurgy, University of Oxford, he joined the CSIR in 1973 as a researcher. In 1996 he became director of the CSIR division of materials science and technology and a member of the CSIR management board. He became director of the CSIR business development for integrated projects in 1998. He has worked extensively with business and industry in the development and application of technology, and is a founder member of the Academy of Science of South Africa.
