GM of business intelligence at Knowledge Integration Dynamics

Charl Barnard, GM of business intelligence at Knowledge Integration Dynamics (KID), began his IT career in the South African Post Office in October 1992, where he was a help-desk support engineer. He moved to the network division as a network engineer, assisting in implementing the new network infrastructure after the split between the Post and Telecommunications divisions. Barnard then became a member of the team evaluating and implementing a Microsoft client-server environment for the organisation, with a focus on software, hardware and standardising on the TCP/IP protocol. He joined SPL (now part of Dimension Data) in October 1997 as a support engineer, supporting MicroStrategy customers in the Technical Services division. He later moved to the Data Warehouse-MicroStrategy division, where he became a senior consultant, supporting and training others. When Dimension Data cancelled its MicroStrategy distributorship in November 2000, Barnard was appointed technical services manager for the Cognos business unit. KID acquired the Informatica distributorship in January 2004 and appointed Barnard as GM of BI to take Informatica to market and build up a team of excellence.
