Malcolm Meintjes has a construction background, qualifying as a quantity surveyor with a national higher diploma through the Port Elizabeth Technikon in 1993. The slump in the building industry inspired him to test other industries from 1995 and in 2000 moved into the IT industry. He completed a programming diploma through CTI which provided him an entry point into Maven Technologies as a VB6/Oracle developer. He joined Focus Solutions as a senior developer/development manager in 2002. Focus Solutions provided the platform to apply his management and quantities experience into project and development management. This resulted in MS SQL courses, a project management diploma from Unisa, along with other MS Project and Presentation skills courses. These helped him grow into the general manager/project manager and development manager position, inspiring a wish to move into a concentrated project management role. In 2005, this opportunity was offered by Fulcrum.
