SITA awards two multimillion-rand tenders

Johannesburg, 22 Apr 2002

The State IT Agency (SITA) has awarded two multimillion-rand LAN and WAN tenders, each for the duration of three years.

The local area (LAN) tender has been awarded to arivia.kom for the supply of hardware maintenance, support services and computer-related peripheral equipment. The wide area network (WAN) tender was awarded to Gijima Technologies, for the supply and maintenance of routing and associated WAN equipment.

Both arivia.kom and Gijima Technologies have undertaken to subcontract a substantial percentage of the contracts to previously disadvantaged individuals (PDIs) as well as small and medium-sized enterprises throughout SA.

The companies have also contracted to develop, transfer skills and create sustainable jobs for the PDIs.

These tenders were previously managed by Comparex Africa, which held them for the past 10 years.
