PeopleSoft wins R20m university deal

Johannesburg, 12 Jun 2003

The University of the Free State has made its largest technology investment to date, with the implementation of PeopleSoft`s Student Administration application in a deal worth R20 million over two years.

Atos KPMG Consulting is to provide consulting and implementation services for the project.

PeopleSoft distributor activ8 says this is the first university in SA to implement the application, which has a growing base of more than 600 users worldwide.

The university has licensed PeopleSoft`s enterprise applications including Financial Management, Human Resources Management and Student Administration and will replace a range of legacy and other systems.

The solution will be used to integrate administrative operations, providing all members of the campus community - applicants, more than 19 000 students, administrative and academic staff - with web-based access to information and services.

"Worldwide market demand in the higher sector for PeopleSoft`s solutions has been tremendous," says activ8 MD Paul Mather.

"Our local includes a major focus on providing tailor-made solutions to this sector and is fully supported by PeopleSoft," Mather says.

"The combination of PeopleSoft solutions, the higher education sector expertise and experience of Atos KPMG, and very competitive total cost based on PeopleSoft`s 'early adopter` program, make our offering very attractive to tertiary institutions."
