2KO International has taken a 50% share in International Business Training Company (IBTC). IBTC is a newly established tuition provider providing home study courses in CIMA, ACCA and CAT at all levels. IBTC`s comprehensive courses are available to students throughout southern Africa and are based on study material supplied by BPP Professional Education, a leading international provider of professional education services.
"Linking with BPP Education was one of our chief goals from the outset," says Daniel Carter, Managing Partner at IBTC. With the growing demand for professional education and training in the local market and government support through the Skills Education Training Authorities (SETAs) there is significant scope for growth in professional education. "Our product meets the highest international standards and affords students who hold the qualification fantastic opportunities throughout the world," says Carter.
IBTC (www.ibtc.co.za) launched in July 2005 with the aim of providing tuition, guidance and support to help its students prepare for their professional exams. According to IBTC, there is a dearth of opportunities in southern Africa for students to gain an internationally useful qualification in accounting. Home study or distance education will bring this within reach of thousands of people who are unable to take time off work to upgrade their skills.
IBTC courses (CIMA, ACCA and CAT) offer unique opportunities to both employer and employee. Employers are able to claim back 50% their skills development levy through Fasset (www.fasset.org.za), the SETA responsible for accountancy-related skills development. This means that employers can now afford to train their employees without it draining training budgets. Employees on the other hand can further their career by studying for a variety of professional accountancy qualifications which are recognised internationally.
