Sangonet will host its fourth regional Thetha forum on 22 and 23 November in Maseru, Lesotho.

Sangonet`s Thetha forum will provide non-profit organisations the opportunity to discuss ICT, and challenges facing the non-governmental organisation (NGO) sector. Practical benefits, opportunities and lessons learned will be highlighted and promoted, the organisation says.

The forum is part of the organisation`s broader objective to increase the use and of ICT within the NGO sector in southern Africa, it says.

The Lesotho Thetha programme includes a national perspective on ICT , how ICT can be used for educational development, as well as the opportunities and challenges Lesotho civil society organisations face.

Previous regional Thethas were held in Namibia, Swaziland and Botswana. Details on the upcoming Angolan Thetha, which will be held in Luanda on 6 and 7 December, will be announced later, Sangonet says.

Sangonet has also called for expressions of interest for its third annual "ICTs for Civil Society" conference and exhibition, to be held in March 2007, in Johannesburg.

Next year, the national conference will focus specifically on how the non-profit sector is adopting, using and implementing ICT applications in its work.

"To assist us in shaping the programme for the event, we are inviting NGOs and other interested stakeholders to highlight specific topics that are of interest to them," the organisation says.
