Global networking and storage accessory distributor Zycko says it has snapped up and renamed Glue Networks, in the process giving it global expertise, brands and buying clout.
Effective 1 December, Glue Networks will become Zycko South Africa. It now has access to more third-party component products, increased stock and increased buying power, it says.
Zycko distributes third-party components for 3Com, Cisco, Nortel, Extreme, HP and Sun, as well as GBIC`s router cables and router memory. The Zycko deal also comes with access to Agilent Technologies. All products carry a limited lifetime warranty, and same-day or next-day delivery.
Local MD of Glue Networks Gail Holt will take the position of MD of Zycko SA. Holt says: "This positions us as a global player, gives us access to the resources of a global parent company and allows us to tap into world-class intellectual capital."
What`s in it for the reseller?
"I believe that belonging to a global organisation will be of direct benefit to the SA channel. Access to Zycko`s support will drive both productivity and sales through better pricing and services, giving resellers the flexibility to recycle stock, resell older equipment and asset swap excess inventory."
Zycko has been one of Glue Network`s preferred suppliers since its inception in February 2002. Marketing director Mark Crocker says the deal gives the company`s resellers the support of its 'Reseller Asset Recovery Programme`, which provides a way to determine the value of unwanted stock.
"With this resellers can provide customers with the most appropriate way to raise cash for their unwanted networking equipment. Resellers can also use a free equipment appraisal service."
Crocker says the acquisition forms part of Zycko`s global expansion strategy, positioning it with offices in SA, the UK, the US, Canada, Germany and Norway, with further expansion planned for Russia.
