Channel Data has partnered with US-based Peribit Networks to promote the Peribit brand and market the US company`s bandwidth optimisation products for wide area networks in the sub-Saharan region.
Making the announcement in Sandton yesterday, Channel Data GM Mike Hamilton said the move was aimed at entrenching Peribit`s position in the region by making its WAN products available through a greater number of outlets within Channel Data`s established reseller base.
As an established distributor of high-end technology products, Channel Data takes over the distribution of Peribit products from Systems Integration Group sister company and data storage reseller, Source Consulting.
"Source Consulting has clearly achieved its goal of establishing the Peribit brand in the past two years with more than 60 customers and 17 resellers contracted during this period," says Hamilton.
Source Consulting will continue to be associated with the Peribit brand and will market Peribit`s Sequence Mirror products alongside its data storage solutions.
"The decision to formalise the sale structure of Peribit in the region through the introduction of a conventional channel model is in line with international market trends," says Hamilton.
The sub-Saharan region accounts for 10% of Peribit`s worldwide install base and includes the biggest Peribit installation in the world and two of Peribit`s other biggest installations, says Gilles Trachsel, Swiss-based Peribit Networks customer engineer.
