GM to invest in Indian technology centre

General Motors (GM) is to invest $60 million over the next three years in an Indian technology centre, reports Reuters. Opening in June, the centre will collaborate with the company`s US and European centres on research for the of futuristic . It will hire 260 Indian engineers over the next 18 months. With the large time zone difference between the European and US centres, the company believes the Indian centre will boost productivity and speed up research.

Singapore gets new wireless technology

Singapore will introduce ultra-wideband technology that allows users to detect buried items or objects behind walls and to track people, according to a Reuters report. The technology uses low power radio signals consisting of short pulses that transmit large amounts of data. Singapore`s telecoms watchdog, the Infocomm Development Authority, will help develop the US-made technology and allow trials for the next two years.

WarCraft III expansion coming soon

Frozen Throne, the WarCraft III expansion title, will be available during the third quarter of this year. Since the release of WarCraft III in July last year, more than two million units have been sold worldwide, says local Blizzard distributor, Comztek. In true expansion fashion, Frozen Throne will feature an enhanced world editor and new multiplayer options. It is expected to retail for R249.
