TallyGenicom has announced the addition of built-in Ethernet functionality to its TallyGenicom 2265 and 2280 dot matrix printers.
David Terry, director of TallyGenicom South Africa says the added functionality represents a cost saving for buyers, because it does not require an external print server or plug-in Ethernet module to be used for the printers to become network aware.
"As companies grow and their print volumes of invoices, statements, payslips and picking slips increase, having an impact printer infrastructure that contains built-in Ethernet connectivity stops the need of additional stand-alone printers as this printer resource can be shared across the entire network," he says
Despite industry sentiment that the impact printers' market potential is declining, Terry says that these devices are still in demand.
"Impact printers still provide a cost effective method of printing for most businesses and there is a great deal of life left in the impact printer market," says Terry.
To satisfy the clear demand for impact technology at the high-end, TallyGenicom remains committed to dot-matrix and line printer technology, he concludes.
